let’s continue to move away from resolutions
Every year as the New Year comes around the messaging of resolutions, the chorus of “new year, new me”, and the diet culture messaging is overwhelming. And this year is a tidal wave that continues to spill over despite many different containment strategies.
One can reject it all, or engage with it a bit or maybe play around with the narrative and story of resolution.
This year, I chose a ritual process of gathering my intentions and over the 13 days after the winter solstice, I ended with one singular intention to belong for the next 365 days. This year my remaining intention is to say I love you more to people and the natural world. This isn’t about a new me or changing something that I feel deep shame about. This is about being solid in who I am, the vulnerability, the connections, the weird and the magical.
I will continue to say I love you to my food, to adapted movement, to water, to rocks, to people in the streets, to loved ones near and far.
To quote echo acupuncture (insta) - fuck wellness. i want aliveness.
Let this be the season of
more embracing curiosity and moving away from judgement
remembering how food deepened our understanding of someone
expressing our love and connection to each other
moving beyond nourishment as only a nutritional concept - we are nourished in many different ways
