Online and In-person Therapy in North Vancouver
Individual Counselling
Sliding scale and financial coverage available
The foundation of all my therapeutic work with individual counselling clients is collaborative.
We’ll spend time together to figure out a path that feels comfortable for you, and connected to your vision for your life.
Here’s how it works
We’ll check in on a regular basis about how things are going, how the space between us is feeling, and what needs to shift or change.
We’ll make a plan together. You are the expert on your own life and experiences. I am here to provide support and feedback, but you will always get to choose. You can always say no, tell me what isn’t working for you, and I will always receive that with openness. You can always choose what works for you. I’ll introduce ideas that I think might be useful, but they are always only an invitation.
Collaborative support also means that we take the time to understand your context and how you view “the problem” and take a different perspective to examine it.
Most importantly, I want you to feel welcomed and cared for in the spaces I hold. I hope for you to feel a deep sense of connection and build trust in the space we create together.
You also might feel challenged, in a good way. Therapy involves curiosity and at times moments of tender confrontation from which you can grow and change in the ways you desire.

Counselling Therapy Frequently Asked Questions

Our sessions together can look many different ways weaving together talk with body-based approaches. In the first session(s), I typically guide the conversation with questions to connect with you and get an understanding of what you want to explore in counselling.
This process can look many different ways. One metaphor I like to use is that we are building your fingerprint for counselling. What worked for someone else might not feel right for you.
Creativity in the space is welcomed. For some people, they like to bring things to read to me and discuss. Other people find movement during the session helpful. Other people enjoy taking home prompts for their home practice.
I will often check in with you to talk about how the process is going for you.

Counselling is an investment of time, money, and emotional bandwidth and these are all factors that get consideration. Spacing between sessions allows for time to process practices. Scheduling is something that you have autonomy over and we can discuss what works for your context.

Brainspotting is a focused meditation that helps your mind go wherever it needs to. Where you look affects how you feel. In Brainspotting, we use your field of vision to identify and orient to a spot in the room that connects strongly with a body sensation you are feeling. By mindfully focusing on that spot, we can help your brain drop out of overthinking mode, and let it go wherever it needs to go to process your experience. My role in this process is to facilitate the Brainspotting, be in connection with you, and attune to your experience.
“We need to learn how to practice love such that care—for ourselves and others—is understood as political resistance and cultivating resilience.”
